Dedichiamoci all'intervista della settimana, ovvero con la bravissima e famosissima Pia Grace Moon attrice in Spin Out - Amore in testacoda (2016), Winners & Losers (2011) and Holding the Man (2015). PiaGrace torna con un cortometraggio horror diretto da Luke Creely dal titolo: They Can't Hear You. Un cortometraggio che lascia senza parole a metà tra il masochista di turno ed il serial killer spietato. Ottime basi insomma anche se il 90% del pathos del film viene fornito direttamente dalla bravura di PiaGrace Moon, abile a fornire una visione reale di quello che sta avvenendo in quella stanza da letto. Un buon inizio per ricercare anche produttori e produzioni interessati a sviluppare nuove trame in un Universo cinematografico legato ad i soliti clichè degli ultimi anni (qualcosa di nuovo l'abbiamo visto con Paraphrenia, già recensito ampiante su TheBlogDC).
Ciao PiaGrace, potresti anticiparci il tuo ruolo in "They Can't Hear You"?
Personalmente, sono molto entusiasta dell'uscita di "They Can not Hear You" di Primitive Films.
È un nuovo genere per me e l'esperienza complessiva è stata persino migliore di quanto avrei potuto immaginare. Il film è piuttosto oscuro, un po 'distorto - è una breve, acuta fetta del peggior incubo di una famiglia ristretta.
Potresti voler tornare a casa e abbracciare i tuoi bambini un pò più stretti, dopo...
Il film è stato diretto da Luke Creely e prodotto dalla Primitive Films, che difficoltà avete incontrato durante le riprese?
Le riprese in sé erano davvero straordinariamente fluide. "They Can not Hear You" è stato girato in una giornata molto ben pianificata ed eseguita a marzo di quest'anno.
Nel film australiano, è un po 'di battuta scherzosa che non si menziona mai il call sheet (programma del film) durante le riprese per paura di imprecare contro il giorno - ma in questa ripresa, è stato il contrario. Quasi tutto è andato come previsto e abbiamo persino finito ore prima del previsto, con più di quello di cui avevamo bisogno. Il modo in cui viene girato il film, la cosa più complessa è stata ottenere il nostro blocco tecnico giusto.
Nessuno poteva permettersi di perdere un colpo o fare un passo falso senza compromettere ciò che stavamo cercando di creare. È stato un grande lavoro di squadra.
Al contrario, il nostro regista, Luke Creely, desiderava davvero che le nostre esibizioni fossero il più naturali e naturali possibile, quindi una prova di performance minima.
C'è stata una parte fantastica della giornata in cui stavamo perfezionando questi movimenti della telecamera - con queste immagini audaci e scioccanti e alcuni contenuti altamente emotivi - e poi ci sono io e Ingrid (Torelli) a dare questa lettura blanda, impassibile, quasi monotona in tutto, in modo da non "sprecare" nulla durante le prove - è stato piuttosto divertente, lo ricorderò sempre.
Sei sempre stata una fan dei film horror, ci racconteresti come è avvenuto il tuo incontro con Luke Creely?
Sì, sono sempre stata una grande fan dell'horror, quindi ero particolarmente entusiasta quando è arrivata questa opportunità. Cerco costantemente di restringere i miei film horror preferiti ad almeno una top 3, ma è in continua evoluzione!
Alcuni preferiti dovrebbero essere la serie "IT" originale - beh, la maggior parte di Stephen King in realtà - "The Amityville Horror", "The Descent", "Wolf Creek".
Sono sempre stata interessata a imparare e lavorare con effetti speciali e pratici, che sembrano essere un po 'più comuni in horror, fantascienza e fantasy.
Questo progetto è stato un ottimo inizio per me.
Uno dei produttori esecutivi, Adam La Rosa, con il quale ho lavorato con il film biografico di Matthew Holmes "La leggenda di Ben Hall", mi ha contattato direttamente per vedere se fossi interessata.
Mi ha mandato la sceneggiatura, mi sono innamorata - e poi, ho scoperto che la giovane attrice con cui recitavo era Ingrid (Torelli) - che era una mia studentessa di recitazione a lungo termine e piuttosto recentemente - sarebbe stata la prima tempo ho avuto l'opportunità di lavorare direttamente con uno dei ragazzi che ho insegnato - e questo per me è stato un presagio e ho pensato "Questo è destino",
Fortunatamente per me, il regista ha pensato allo stesso modo!
Il MedFF," uno dei festival più famosi in Europa, ha indicato il Vostro film come "Miglior Work in Progress 2018" proiettando il trailer durante uno dei suoi Show. Pensi che in Italia arriverà lo stesso successo?

Una possibile data di uscita?
Sembra che il trailer possa essere pubblicato già alla fine di questo mese (luglio 2018), il che è sorprendente!
Tuttavia, per quanto riguarda le proiezioni e le anteprime, questo deve ancora essere deciso in quanto dipende da quanto bene il film fa nel circuito dei festival.
Potrebbe essere ovunque tra sei mesi e due anni.

Mi piacerebbe assolutamente fare un altro progetto horror dopo questo, ovviamente!
È una cosa così interessante da esplorare, come gli umani si comportano o reagiscono quando ci sentiamo sotto pressione, quando siamo a corto di scelte, siamo in pericolo.
Come ho detto, le riprese sono state un'esperienza meravigliosa, mi sono divertita così tanto - ma c'è molto di più che posso imparare. Non vedo l'ora che arrivi il prossimo!
Che progetti ci sono nel tuo futuro imminente?
È un po 'difficile dire quale sarà il prossimo - c'è solo così tanto che posso dire!
Presto uscirà un progetto online, che è completamente diverso, ma non vedo l'ora.
Le audizioni stanno ancora arrivando, quindi non vedo l'ora di vedere quale sia la prossima cosa, onestamente - haha.

Let's dedicate ourselves to the interview of the week, that is with the talented and very famous Pia Grace Moon actress in Spin Out - Love in spun (2016), Winners & Losers (2011) and Holding the Man (2015). PiaGrace returns with a horror short film directed by Luke Creely entitled: They Can not Hear You. A short film that leaves no words between the masochist on duty and the ruthless serial killer. In short, even if 90% of the pathos of the film is provided directly by the skill of PiaGrace Moon, able to provide a real view of what is happening in that bedroom. A good start to also look for producers and productions interested in developing new plots in a cinematographic universe linked to the usual clichés of recent years (something new we have seen with Paraphrenia, already reviewed amp on TheBlogDC).
1) What can you anticipate about the plot and your role in They Can not Hear You?
For me personally, I am very excited about the release of Primitive Films’ “They Can’t Hear You,” It’s a new genre for me and the overall experience was even better than I could have imagined. The film is quite dark, a bit twisted - it’s a short, sharp slice of a close family’s worst nightmare, which I hope that people will find confronting. You may want to go home and hug your babies a little tighter, afterwards.
2) The film, directed by Luke Creely and produced by Primitive Films, had particular complexity during filming?
The shoot itself actually ran remarkably smoothly. “They Can’t Hear You,” was shot over one very well-planned & executed day in March of this year.
In Australian film, it’s a bit of running joke that you never mention the call sheet (film schedule) during filming for fear of cursing the day - but on this shoot, it was sort of the opposite.
Almost everything went as planned and we even finished hours ahead of schedule, with more than what we needed.
The way the film is shot, the most complex thing was getting our technical blocking right.
Nobody could afford to miss a beat or take one wrong step without compromising what we were trying to create. It was a huge team effort.
In contrast to that, our director, Luke Creely really wanted our performances to be as raw & natural as possible, so minimal performance rehearsal.
So there was this fantastic part of the day when we were perfecting these camera movements - with these bold & shocking visuals and some highly emotional content- and then there’s myself & Ingrid (Torelli) giving this bland, dead-pan, almost monotone script reading throughout, so as to not “waste” anything on rehearsals - that was quite funny, I’ll always remember that. We all had a good giggle.
3) Your character, how would you define it in a few words?
If I had to define my character, Sarah, in “They Can’t Hear You,’ in a few words, I like to think she will be easy to relate to. Sarah is mature beyond her years - she is very caring & loving, always has the best of intentions - but unfortunately, is very naive. Also - she’s having a pretty awful day, haha. You’ll see!
4) I read that you've always been a fan of horror son-in-law. How did the meeting with Luke Creely and the beginning of this project happen?
Yes - I’ve always been a big fan of horror, so I was especially thrilled when this opportunity came up. I’m constantly trying to narrow down my favourite horror films to at least a top 3, but its forever changing!
Some favourites would have to be the original ‘IT’ series - well, most Stephen King actually - ‘The Amityville Horror’, ‘The Descent', 'Wolf Creek' (films & series 2 - sorry, Greg.) & the early 'Saw' films.
I’ve always been interested in learning & working with more special & practical effects, which seem to be bit more common in horror, sci-fi & fantasy.
This project was quite serendipitous for me.
Originally, filming was scheduled to take place much earlier in the year, however life happened and when it was delayed, the actress (Laura Jane Turner) who had been cast in the role of “Sarah” became unavailable.
Funnily enough, that same gorgeous actress had taken over a role for me in a web series two years prior, when the schedule changed and I became unavailable - what goes around comes around!
One of the executive producers, Adam La Rosa, who I had worked with on Matthew Holmes’ biopic “The Legend of Ben Hall,’ contacted me directly to see if I would be interested.
He sent me the script, I fell in love - and then, found out that the young actress I would be playing opposite was Ingrid (Torelli) - who was a long-term acting student of mine & quite recently - it would be the first time I’ve had the opportunity to work directly with one of the kids I’ve taught - and that to me, was one too many good omens and I just thought “This is meant to be,”
Lucky for me, the director felt the same way!
5) The MedFF festival would like to reward you as the "best project in progress of 2018" and offer you a free screening of your trailer. Do you like that in Italy you are so appreciated?
On behalf on Primitive Films and our amazing cast & crew, thank-you so much! That is so exciting! Thank-you kindly for your support & I so hope that all of Italy’s horror fans will enjoy watching the film, as much as we enjoyed making it!

6) A probable release date?
It’s looking like the trailer could be released as early as the end of this month (July 2018), which is amazing! However, as far as screenings & premieres go, this is yet to be decided as it depends how well the film does in festival circuit. It could be anywhere between six months & two years.

7) Do you plan to do another horror after this?
I would absolutely love to do another horror project after this one, of course! It’s such an interesting thing to explore, how humans behave or react when we feel under pressure, when we’re running out of choices, we’re in danger. As I said, the shoot was a wonderful experience, I had so much fun - but there’s so much more I can learn. I’m already looking forward to the next one!
8) Could you anticipate what projects you have in your imminent future?
It’s kind of tricky to say what’s next - there’s only so much I can say! I have an online project soon to be released, which is totally different again but I’m looking forward to it. The auditions are still rolling in, so I can’t wait to see what the next thing is either, honestly - haha.
