The Third Wife by Ash Mayfair Vietnam 2018.

Aggiornamento: 21 gen 2019

The Third Wife, Directed by Ash Mayfair was screening at Kolkata Film Festival 2018. Luckily I'm the viewer of this film. An impressive debut film from the Director. You are brilliantly portray the story in your on way. As a film critics and a young filmmaker, I'm rich to see your movie. 96 minutes you made me into the film united.

19th century rural Vietnam, fourteen-year-old "May" is ready to become the third wife of a wealthy landowner. The film did not show any violence, but the violence has been shown so beautiful in this film that was master violence drama. The relation between each and everyone in this landowner family was so graceful but there was hidden drama between this family. There’s the watchful, elegant Ha played by the stunning Tran Nu Yen Khe (wife of artistic advisor Tran Anh Hung, whose “Scent of the Green Papaya” is one of the touch-points here). And there’s the sexually frank second wife Xuan (Mai Thu Huong), who, May discovers to her shock and confused arousal, is having a clandestine affair with Son (Nguyen Thanh Tam), Hung’s adult son with first wife Ha. It’s hard to tell quite where the fluttering desire of May’s sexual awakening will alight, but it has little to do with her husband — much like “The Third Wife” generally, which is content to sideline the menfolk while constantly nudging our attention onto the women.

Visually the film location to relate the family and their relation. A scene in this film when "May" was crying and tears drop in her palm then the next scene shown that the rain slowly dropping, that was tell many things. The next beauty of this film location, the deign of this film and the dresses are all great. When the landowner's horse died, the connection shown between the horse and the smallest child in this family that was heart touched.

Film ending is tough to accept. The Third Wife "May" when she was pregnant she always pray to god give her son for keep the generation forward. "May" finally comes to an understanding of the brutal truth, the options available to her are few and far between. But the Lord give her a daughter. And May did something which cant be describable.....For this must see the film.
